Why not BOOKMARK it (or ADD IT TO FAVOURITES)
But firstly ... A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO CAME AND PICKED CHESTNUTS in 2015 WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED THEM AND ENJOYED COMING HERE TO PICK THEM. If so, please tell your friends. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN THIS SEASON Last tear's harvest was the best we've had The nuts were big and there were plenty of them HOPEFULLY,this year's crop will be as good or even better than last. THERE SEEMS TO BE PLENTY ON THE TREES (FROM GOOD WEATHER AT FLOWERING) and we've had a good mix of sun and rain since Christmas IT SHOULD BE A GOOD SEASON with plenty of good sized nuts - I'll keep you informed when they begin to drop THERE IS NO POINT IN COMING TOO SOON AFTER THE SEASON STARTS UNLESS YOU ARE JUST CRAVING FOR A FEW FRF OUR FRESH NUTS. 2/3 OF OUR TREES ARE THE BEST PRODUCING 1015s AND THEY ARE MID SEASON TREES. ONLY 1/6 OF THE TREES ARE THE EARLY SEASON 1005s THE OTHER 1/6 ARE THE LATE SEASON 1002s So the number of nuts falling increases slowly in the first week and then there is a glut of nuts in the middle 4 weeks before tail ling off (or going off - if on the ground fore a long while) in the sixth week - well that's the theory but it varies a lot. I'll keep you informed day by day on this web site OUR FARMSTAY B&B ACCOMODATION IS OPEN ALL YEAR OR READ ON FOR CHESTNUT PICKING INFORMATION THE FIRST DAY OF THE 2016 SEASON MIGHT be Sunday 20 March BUT IT MAY BE LATER WE SHOULD THEN BE OPEN FOR ABOUT A 5-6 WEEK SEASON TO MAKE IT WORTHWHILE YOU COMING - WATCH THIS SPACE |

THE PRICE MUST GO UP IN 2017
A visit to Chestnut Ridge to pick chestnuts WILL STILL BE great value for money.

Why not bring the family for a picnic in the orchard, or on the lawn, and get them all picking afterwards
A great way to spend an afternoon
Please bring:
A rubbish bag to take your empty cans, lunch wrappers etc away with you
Cash, as we don't have an EFTPOS terminal
A stop at the public toilets, in the nearby Te Kauwhata Village, before arriving, is a good idea
as we have only our own limited toilet facilities in our house, not in the orchard
We have probably got 7 - 8 Tonnes or more available THIS season
Buy the whole crop in 2015 season. Contact owner to negotiate price.
